Saving Session Settings

I really like the feature in KDE 3.1 where you can save the session settings when you logout. But unfortunately it is not working correctly. It doesn't remember the particular desktops where applications were opened. And it also doesn't seem to be able to remember anything about firebird being open. Is this just the way it is or is there a file/setting I can change to set this right.

Thanks,
Lawrence

It might also be a problem of the application if it doesn't handle its session management correctly.
