Changing hostname

Currently my machine has `localhost' as the hostname. Using the hostname command, my machine's name is only temporarily changed. Can anybody help me?

You should be able to change the hostname by editing /etc/hosts. Does Mandrake use some sort of a utility program to set this? Maybe that is why your changes are over written.
