KDE 'virtual desktop' not 'multiple desktops'

Ok Last time i used kde was on redhat back around V. 7.0-7.3 I was able to have 1 large workspace devided into 4 parts that were connected at the edges.

I would like the same behavior using KDE and RH9 . how do i go about that. I am pretty scared to mess with X too much, i tend to break it .

I have searched KDE docs some and Google and Teoma quite a bit. even asked some BSDers at word. They told me BSD did it just fine /joke/.

Could anyone please help me with this? I am pretty sure it can be done.

Fred

I dont know the exact English names, I am translating from the German version.

Control Center -> Desktop -> Window Properties -> Advanced (last tab)
Settings for active desktop border (at bottom of dialog page)
