dolphin - how to manage open new folders in tabs only

hi there,
im desperately looking for an option in dolphin to open new double-clicked folders in a new tab instead in a new window. i know it's possible inside a running instance of dolphin to open a folder with middleclick that opens a new tab then.

but im used to konqueror that it's possible to open folders from desktop inside an already opened instance of the filemanager in a new tab. in dolphin so far i doesn't work. every time a complete new process is started in a new window when i open a folder on desktop or outside an already active dolphin process.

furthermore i would like to use persistent tabs in dolphin, which can be saved on exit. any idea if this is already possible? i know it works with krusader, but maybe in dolphin too?

im using kde 4.2 in kubuntu. thank you for your help.
