Program shortcuts in taskbar?

Hi all,

I'm new to Linux and just installed Kubuntu 8.10 with Wubi. It is using KDE 4. I like it a lot but have 2 questions:

1.) How can I get program shortcuts to appear in the taskbar?
2.) Is there any way I can get icons like Computer, Home, etc... to appear on the desktop?
