Logging on remotely with NX on XP to a KDE4.1.1 Kubuntu machine

I log on from my remote Windows XP (sp3) machine to a Kubuntu kde4.1.1 machine using NX. The configuration of NX allows me to specify KDE, but not KDE4, and when I log on, the session is kde3.5, even though I have installed KDE4.1.1 and use it just fine when I am at my desk.
Is there a way to either tell NX to use KDE4, or use something other than NX? I do not like VNC, which is even slower than NX.
