moving files

hello

I have 2 computers - 1] P4 2.4 gHZ 2gb ram ubuntu 7.10 the #1 computer has kde desktop [installed 4 months ago]

- 2] P4 core2duo 3.0 gHZ 3gb ram ubuntu 8.04 the #2 computer has kde desktop [installed 4 days ago]

i installed and tried the gnome desktop, also the xfce desktop and am now trying the kde desktop [on the # 2 computer] which i installed 4 days ago. [using the aptitude command]

My problem is i cannot get the drag and drop [move files] to work on #2. If i try to move a file from my desktop to another hard drive it won't work [I can copy and paste it but then I have to delete one of them as i wud have 2 of the same file].
Also, if i try to move files in the same harddrive [from 1 folder to another folder] it doesn't work. I don't get a menu that gives me the option to Copy, Move or Cancel.

On my #1 machine drag and drop works fine [I select file, drag it to anywhere else and I get a menu the gives me the Copy, Move or Cancel options] i don't know which version of kde this is.

Is there any way I can get #2 computer to work the same as #1 for this drag and drop function?

Thank you
