Dolphin File Manager - a VISTA ripoff - why did KDE ruin Konqueror?

Since I now have a Fedora 9 / KDE 4 partition I have been patiently trying to get back a functional usable and advanced file manager so I can complete my basic day to day tasks. Konqueror 3 had served this task admirably for years and I am very disappointed to see it gone. While Konqueror 4 has file management abilities, it is basically just a overlay on top of Dolphin. Dolphin is actually the file management engine. So I have been trying to get Dolphin configured to somehow at least somewhat approach a Konqueror 3 configuration. Unfortunately it appears this is currently not possible.

In the meantime I have found the Dolphin "Location Navigator," which appears to be a direct ripoff of Vista's "ribbon view." Unfortunately it does not even work as good a Vista's. . .

My question to the Dolphin KDE developers is:
Do you really love Vista THAT much (if so maybe you should turn your development efforts toward it)? Was it REALLY necessary to completely trash the best advanced file manager in existence (which in turn trashes the best DE, which then also alienates your user base) in order to placate a few newbies definition of usability? :cursing:

Other than Dolphin I am quite happy with KDE 4, and think it is a major improvement. However, without the functionality of Konqueror 3, and the inability to port it into Fedora 9, I am unable to use the rest of KDE 4.

Yeah, I agree, but let's wait and see. Dolphin is their baby. I can understand how restoring Konqueror is not the priority, but I would expect them to get to it eventually.

I've gone back to KDE3, and I love it more than ever. I don't care much for Plasma, it's just not interesting to me, the same way World of Warcraft or Second Life doesn't interest me... but I can live with it. I can't live without Konqueror, and this ain't Konqueor. The only question that matters to me is if and when KDE3 is no longer maintained, Konqueror is back to its old self.
