removing taskbar makes a big mess - kde4.1

hello,
i am using awn dock, so i want to remove the task widget from the panel,but when i remove it the clock becomes big and everything is streching and making a big mess on the panel. is there a way to lock them in place? (lock widgets doesnt do it), or mybe is there a "expandable seperator" widgets
