KDE (plasma) graphics glitch when running java applications

It appears that whenever I run java applications, massive graphics errors start occuring:

Attached is a shot of plasma's taskbar degrading after I moved my mouse over it while eclipse was open. Other errors include windows becoming entirely black.

I am using the nvidia display driver.

Any idea how to fix this?
