kxkb and xmodmap

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm putting it here.

I'm running kubuntu 7.10, so I have kde 3.5. I've been having some trouble with a boot-up xmodmap script. After some searching, I discovered that kxkb is set to automatically call xmodmap on /usr/share/apps/ubuntu.xmodmap, and ~/.Xmodmap, if it exists. I can't find where in the source this is set up. Where is this set up? Is it configurable without recompiling?

any help would be appreciated!
