KMail & pop3: how to download only the message headers?

I'm switching from thunderbird to kmail.
I have 4 imap accounts and
they work fine, but I'm not very pleased with pop3 accounts, probably
because I don't know how to configure them.
1) I'd like to download
only message headers for my pop account, mostly to use kmail as a
notifier of new mails, because I don't want to fill my hard disk with
mail messages. In thunderbird it was possible, and in kmail?
2) If 1
is possible, I'd like to download message body and then removing it
automatically from the hard disk (leaving just the header) when I exit
kmail. Can be done?
3) Why a pop account goes under "local folders", and does not create a group on his own as the imap accounts?
4)
Is it possible to have the same folders I have in my pop account on the
server (it is yahoo), and for example, when I send a mail, a copy of it
to be written on the "sent mail" folder on the server?
5) Which is the difference between usinf freepops and configuring a pop account without freepops?
