Login manager doesn't work??

I've been trying to change my login screen and/or theme in KDE 4 Login Manager, but none of the settings take effect. It seems to simply ignore what I'm doing. I also tried to add a new theme and while it says the new theme is installed, but it never appears in the list of available themes, even after rebooting.

Is this a known bug or am I just doing something crazy wrong??
