Kmail will not sign messages

HI,

I'm using Kontact 1.2.4 and Kmail 1.9.6, I've created new OpenPGP keys using KGpg. Using the Configure stuff for my user identity, I've pointed Kmail to using my key. Then, I select the option to sign the message upon sending but KMail responds with, "Signing failed: Bad passphrase." I've been over the help many times and from the help file, "KMail needs to know your PGP passphrase: if you did not select Keep passphrase in memory in the Security section, KMail will ask you for it." I didn't select anywhere for KMail to keep the PGP passphrase in memory nor can I find anywhere to force KMail to prompt me for the passphrase. Kmail does *not* prompt for the passphrase now. How do I make this work?

Andy

P.S. Incidentally, why is this site so slow? Every link I click on takes several minutes to load. I'm using DSL.
