Clipboard misbehaves - cursor placed after first line

Hello.

I am using Fedora Cora 8 and KDE 3.5. I am sad because my clipboard is behaving badly.

In certain programs, notably Kate and Kile, when I paste in several lines of text (using Ctrl+V), the cursor gets placed at the end of the first line of the text I pasted, instead of at the end of the entire pasted text like it's supposed to.

Needless to say, this is annoying, especially when I need to paste the same thing multiple times in a row.

I have Klipper installed and running. Closing it makes no difference.

Can this be fixed?
