Cant hear system notification sounds

Hi,

I am using KDE 3.5.9-5. FC8, everything is running almost fine. However, i can't hear system notification sounds, it work ramdomly. When I log in, i get the message saying that sound card was not properly detected or installed. But I can hear any other sounds (Amarock etc), when i go to sound card testing, i can hear test sounds. Do anybody has any gess?

When I log in I got this message:

Sound server informational message:
Erros while initializaing the sound driver.
device: default can't be opened for playback (Connection refused)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

Sound card specification:
VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller
Standard PCM device: VIA 8235

What can I do?
