Emerald/Beryl 0.1.5 not working

I am running Linux from a knoppix live CD and noticed this "emerald" program. I messed around with it but I can't seem to get it to apply the themes. I have the KDE desktop and being new to Linux am stumped about what to try next. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

OK so now about half a year later, i figured it out. You have to use the cheatcode "knoppix desktop=beryl" at the boot prompt and have a video card that works. After that I discovered compiz fusion (what beryl became and its way better anyways)
