Help with Menu!!!

Hi I'm a newbie... using OpenSuse with 3.5.8 but have recently installed kde 4.0.0....
everything was working fine with it, until yesterday when updates took place... now whenever i try to open the main menu (kicker??? not sure) the whole screen goes grey... and have to exit out of the X-system and relog back in - i can't seem to fix it because i can't get to the menus to alter settings or what-not!!! Any help???

thanks

RE: Help with Menu!!!

This won't help very much, but I have exact same problem, openSUSE 10.3.

2 user accounts on PC. One uses kickoff, other traditional k menu, both of them click on K and screen goes grey :(

tried removing and adding K button to task bar, and to desktop, same problem :(

At least you're not alone.
i think problem started Monday after updates, there were none on Tuesday, and Wednesday night's didn't fix it.

btw at least I have learned the ctrl f1-f4 shortcuts to change workspace, and alt-f2 for the run command.

btw you can run plasma, but it just crashes again when you click on the k

lol

I'm new here, and to openSUSE, I've fixed it. Probably like me you weren't updating everything?

alt-f2 to get run box, type in

yast

go to Software management

from the package menu
all packages

update if newer version exists

it worked for me anyway!
