Feature request: Notification

Hi, I have some idea how to improve usability of new KDE4. It would be great to have some unified notification aplication(lib or plugin or deamon or anything) some service runnig on the backround used by the various applications to notify their events. I dont know if such a thing curretntly exist or not.

The features I request for is:
1. many ways how to notify for example: sound, popup(maybe something creative using OpenGL), tray icon, trough the plasma, sending an email, runnig a user defined script, keybord LED blinkig(which is IMHO the best way how to notify for example slow blinking of numlock for 1 unread email, for 2 or more highest rate of blinking. For IM measage capslock LED, or combination, or custom sequence)

2. notifying many events: email, IM(messages, changing status), cpu temperature, alarm, calendar events, weather, system events, internet connection, feeds etc...

Or in short: to notify anythig by anything.
