feature request: Active Plasmoid Launcher Indicator

I'm not a fan of the task bar, i find it to be an inefficient use of workspace- plus as we have come to see since the advent of the graphical user interface; visual cues are more effective at communicating information, at a glance, at least, than textual ones. I would like to see launcher plasmoids, (those I have on my desktop, equivalent to "shortcuts" in windows), with an indicator that they are in use. The "gimmie" panel in gnome implements this by adding color to the icon, Mac OS X, gasp, implements this, I think it's ?orbs now?, underneath the icon. If this were combined with a non-composited "bring plasmoids to front" feature, I see no need to keep the task bar as necessary. Also, this does not add superfluous visual overhead for those who like the task bar, as the effect should be non-obtrusive and a complimentary visual cue.
