KDE4 starting applications

I've installed KDE4 on my Ubuntu 7.10 machine. I understand that there are some things that are yet to be implemented, but I've got one major problem with it, and I don't think it's one most people are seeing.

I can launch applications with katapult, yakuake, and from the menu. But if I add a link to my desktop, or the task-bar and click on it, nothing happens.

Cursor doesn't change, no sounds played, nothing. Right click gives me an options list as expected, but left click (single or double) has no effect at all.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there something I may have misconfigured? (although I've looked at a lot of the options, I've not really changed a lot). Any logs that might help me work out what isn't working?

RE: KDE4 starting applications

Yea me too.

On older versions of kde I can easily configure the mouse button functionality with the configure desktop menu or go to ~/.kde/share/config/kdesktoprc and do it by hand. On kde4 I can not find either way.

Help please
