Ability to adjust display missing

I know this one will sound strange .. and I admit I am brand new to KDE having just installed it yesterday .. but I have used computers for years and just can not find anything in the software to allow me to change the resolution of the screen. It is to small and I need to tweek it to something better. In fact I am using another machine to write this message.

I looked at various problems in the archives and recent past and all the comments about points where people used an applet to change the screen from 1440xxxx to 1024xxxx are missing. I just can not find them.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Is there some program I need to install?
