kde fails to login remotely

Question:
========

I got stuck trying to login remotely. I need an idea where to look next in the configuration or a hint that I got stroked by an (un)known error in kde.

What I tried:
===========

to login into remote linux system via a client linux system.
Both are equipped with kde 3.5.8 on top of debian linux (sidux distribution).
The XDMCP server is 64-bit 2.6.23.12 while the client runs 32-bit 2.6.23.9

I changed kdmrc "[XDMCP] Enable=true" and Xaccess, entering the clients IP.

I got the remote login screen, put in the username and pwd, clicked Login.

What I expected:
=============

An X-server to start at the client, especially the kde desktop.

What I got:
========

The session at the client closed without notice.
On the XDMCP-Server in /var/log/messages I found

kdm[4216]: segfault at 0000000000000000 rip 00002b9fde911fc0 rsp 00007fffcd2a2048 error 4
