Can't edit a document in OOo

Hello!
I have a little problem: I can't edit .doc document in OOo 2.3. Document rights are:

Source code

1
-rw-r--r-- 1 areskz areskz 45568 2007-12-18 23:05 EXERCISES Part II.doc

When I open the document I just can't modify it. Even hotkeys doesn't work. For example. if I have something in buffer I can paste it using the menu (Edit -> Paste), but I can't have it done using hotkeys (CTRL+C, Shift+Insert). I just have no idea about the trouble origins.

Info:
Kubuntu 7.10
OpenOffice.org 2.3

Less a KDE problem... Sounds more like the path is what you should be looking at. Is the file in your home directory? Copy it over there and try again...
running on Debian Etch

I think it's even more OOo problem. Because it's able to edit document using, for example, rightclick+paste. And it pastes.
