Kmail and kopete network discovery

Hi.
This is my first post so Greetings to everyone!.
I am not english speaker so excuse my bad english.
I use debian testing (lenny) with KDE 3.5.7 and i am looking information about how to make that all the applications that conect at startup (kopete and kmail for example) waits util network-manager-kde conects to my wiffi.
It takes (the connection of the wifi) always about 5-10 seconds and at this time i have the typical errors form kmail and kopete failed to connect. I think in kubuntu has been solved this issue in feisty. I think it is related to dbus and hal, but dont know how to make this applications to wait until they discover the network.
I think it is really annoying always have this errors at startup an now with laptops it is very comon to make the connection with network-manager-kde.
I would apreciate your help.
Thank you and excuses my english.
Regards
