newbie: Login Screen

Just installed Kubuntu 7.10 and pretty excited with it.
Simple question: I tried to change my user picture in the login menu from System Settings->Login Manager->Users->User Images in Administrator Mode. While it did change the image it also changed the login screen from whatever cool default theme to a grey box-feel thing.
I tried to change it back from the Appearance tab but whatever GUI style I choose it remains the same.
Please help...

Hm, try the kubuntu forum on this one... Don't know why that should happen but I do know that their /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc is different.
