Text To Speech

I have tried to get an integrated text to speech system in fedora 7 to work at this web forum

Now I think that I got things to work as far as possible in KDE but I still cant read like a screen reader fore things like Word or FireFox,
I thought that Emacs was an alternative to a browser and other application in text and with Emacspeak could read everything but first is that true, and second how do I do it?
Can anybody help!
