qt4 application colors not the same as qt3

qt4 application colors not the same as qt3

I have recently started to use qt4 instead of qt3 for my applications and I notice that qt4 does not reflect the underlying widget colors of KDE. For example I use the Plastik style but prefer the Keramik colors. This works fine for all qt3 applications but a qt4 application seems to ignore the Keramik colors and uses colors similar to Plastik colors. How can I get qt4 to recognise Keramik colors?
