can't open web links in any kde app

hi @ll. i'm having a problem opening links in any kde app such as knoversation, kmail etc. if i click the link, instead of konqueror opening, the icon just kinda 'shivers' instead of bouncing and nothing happens. apparently its tries to open but it hangs before it gets there. it appears to directly affect konqueror because in konversation, i checked 'use custom web browser' and entered 'iceweasel '%u'' and it opens just fine. the only solution i have so far is to copy and paste the url into the browser manually but this is a real pain since i often forget to do so and just click the link and i'm stuck with a stalled konqueror. i've been googling alot but i can't find anything to shed some light. any ideas?
