Streaming up to shoutcast server help needed.

Hello.

I've looked through various boards and can't find any duplicate of my question - apologies if I missed it.

I'm running Kubuntu (Feisty Fawn 7.04) without any issues save one - after having been invited to join a 'net radio station as a DJ, I cannot figure out how to stream to the station server (shoutcast).

I've tried Darkice, MuSE and IceCast, all to no avail. DarkIce and IceCast, once installed, simply vanished, while MuSE took issue with JACK and Alsa. Having only been on KDE for 6 months, I really can't describe any more than that.

Other Linux friends are equally mystified - a handful of whom returned to their previous SAM - Win XP set up - in order to broadcast, and, after trawling the 'net for, literally, three months in search of a solution, I'm coming to the conclusion they've all reached; that it's simply not possible to stream live to a 'net station from KDE, which sounds preposterous, but no other solutions have presented themselves.

If someone out there has succeeded in streaming live from KDE to shoutcast, please tell me what you did! I'm available on AIM, Skype and email, and would hugely, hugely appreciate your effort.

Please help - I'm desperate to avoid XP and all things MS, but, thusfar, that seems like the only viable solution.
