KDE putty commands

Hello i have a dedi server its hosted in the netherlands and i have put it in a datacentrum with linux and KDE

Can i stop ore trow kde down with a putty command because i have 4 gigs ram and it use to mutch to me some times i need kde but if i dont need it can i stop it and only connect wiht putty
