video previews in KDE

KDE is a very good and advanced DE but when KDE want's to grnerate a thumbnail from video files it shows a snapshot from the first frames of the movie witch is always black ( like windows ) you can generate that thumbnail from a frame in middle of the video ( like gnome ) so it will become very helpful.

thnak you

RE: video previews in KDE

I agree. And with archives of TV series and stuff like that, you often just get the title of the series as thumbnail for every episode. It would be more helpful to get a shot from somewhere in the middle of the file. Perhaps it is possible to write some kind of smart thumbnailing program that prefers screens with color or text over blank screens?

Btw, cool to see someone from Iran here. I've always had trouble finding Linux people in Iran.

Linux People

Hi,

actually, In Iran there is no copyright law so, people can use illegal versions of all software you can imagine with no cost ( sad but true ) but there are some people among us who care about the copyright even if it is not exist in our country :) you can find persian linux people in www.lugir.org or technotux.org or parsix.org or foss.ir but most of these websites are in Persian :( but if you post something in english there I guarantee you will get a reply in english :) so dont worry :) we love linux and we respect the freedom of free/open source software even when we do not have so much freedom in our country :)

There are other reasons not to use Windows than the copyright laws, in my opinion. That's why I've always found it strange that people in Iran, that have had easy access to both Linux and Windows for ten years, still seem to be happy with Windows.

I will definitely check out the sites you posted. I can read Farsi good enough, but writing is harder for me. Thanks.
