WD (My Book) external HDD

I've recently buy a WD external HDD but my Linux Ubuntu 7.04 (fiesty Fawn) can't locate it. I think it's because the external HDD format is FAT32. My question is if i turn it in NTFS will it work in both Ubuntu and WinXP?
