[Kopete] This webcam WORKS

I think it would be helpful if there was a running thread of webcams that are known to work with Kopete. This is my attempt.

I bought the Creative! Live Webcam Notebook Pro with VF0250 in the serial number from Fry's on Saturday in the USA. It is $49.99 with a $30 mail in rebate, so only costs $20.00. It uses the gspca driver and supports v4l and v4l2. It installed very easily and I had the webcam working in under 5 minutes. My yahoo friends are able to view my webcam with no problem and I can view theirs. I experience the same laggy behavior while typing messages that has been reported in another thread, but other than that it works perfectly.

I also have a Logitech Quickcam Fusion webcam that only supports v4l2 and it does not work at this time in Kopete, at least I have not been able to get it to work.

I am running Arch Linux with KDE 3.5.6 and Kopete version 0.12.4.

I hope this helps someone out or if you are looking to get a webcam points you in the right direction.

RE: [Kopete] This webcam WORKS

I am very curious to know what IM program did you use to get your webcam working for them to see you in Yahoo Messenger?

I've always had this problem and I have yet to figure it out.

I need a program for Linux that will allow video/voice communication with Yahoo Messenger.

Thx

Good idea!

So, here is the information about my webcam, which works flawlessly with the gscpa module. It's a genius webcam, which was quite cheap (I don't remember how much it was, but it wasn't expensive). The webcam is called CamLook312p.

Cylent, I am using Kopete which is why it is in the subject line like so: [Kopete] and in my post I stated:
"My yahoo friends are able to view my webcam with no problem and I can view theirs."
Kopete is an IM and chat client in KDE.

Kopete & Webcam

Hello all,

here an experience i've done:
With Suse 10.2 the webcam dosn't work (shows the pictures on the own PC but no sending...)
on Kubuntu 7.04 it works with yahoo - but only if there is only just one account in kopete...

We still need some more development here ... :-D
