Style Settings Not Used

Somehow or other, the setting to fade in applications and menus got stuck on my user profile. Despite having set it back to animate, it still uses fading. How can I get this fixed?

Do you use composite extension?
Please check:
KDE control center->Desktop->Windows behaviour->Translucency : use translucency/shadows
