Problem with setxkbmap

Hi!

I'm running KDE 3.5.5 under Gentoo. Everything was fine and well with my keyboard layouts. I had US basic and US intl. I always used window-based switching. All of a sudden (meaning no updates I can think of), things stopped working. Pressing CTRL+ALT+K does change the layout indicator on the system tray, but the only applications that seem to mind are Emacs and xterm. All KDE applications use another layout ONLY if I switch to that layout and then start them. If I switch with the application already running, nothing happens. firefox behaves the same way.

Anyone with a similar problem?

Thank!!

Enrique
