Ideas for improving Dolphin

Idea 1

Currently when you click a button on the navigation bar, the path changes to the location that corresponds to the button clicked.

eg.
/ home / user / example

and if the user clicks on "home", it becomes:
/ home

Do you think it would be better if the navigation bar becomes this instead?
/ home / user / example

And when the user clicks a folder in the File View, eg. "user", then it becomes:
/ home / user

This way the user has the opportunity to change back to any other deeper path without having to click "Back" then click on the button for the new path.

Idea 2

Have an option for automatically changing the location bar back to navigation buttons whenever the URL changes.

I personally find this more logical, in fact I've already modified D3lphin 0.9 to do exactly this. Because most likely you'll just type in a URL quickly to change to a totally different location and back to using the navigation buttons. It's more convenient without having to toggle it manually every time.

Idea 3

It would also be nice if the URL can be selected when toggled to location bar. You can copy the text straight away and paste somewhere else. You can also paste some URL directly over the current.

This is something I've also already modified D3lphin to do.

Idea 4

It's not really an idea and I'm not even sure if it's already been implemented in SVN, but I'll mention this none the less.

In Konqueror you can drag the URL icon and drop it say in Konsole and be prompted for options. It would nice to have this same feature in Dolphin.

I'd like your opinions first before submitting a wish (or several) on KDE Bugs.

RE: Ideas for improving Dolphin

I second the breadcrumb one, and have some more:

1. Being able to drag into the bookmarks on the left (could be used for dragging into trash)
2. More (a lot more) possibilities for the columns in details mode. The reason I use details mode a lot is for sorting by type, but type is not a possible column, it seems
3. This is really nitpicking, but while we're at it. Konqueror has a pretty nice zoom and fade effect when you click an item. Can't this be used in dolphin too? It's really nice :)
