another gnome in KDE question

to expand on my last question,

i also really like how gnome starts off with my hard drives on the desktop, a main folder, and the "computer" a la "my computer".

but i am way more comfortable working in kde. from the right click on up

is there any way of getting a gnome desktop, while keeping my KDE taskbars, start menu, and everything else? kde interface and apps

Not to be rude, but it seems to me that this question would be better asked in the Gnome forum. Unless there are KDE users who are intimately familiar with Gnome, I don't know of anyone who could answer it.

dunno exactly what you mean, but you can get a 'my computer' on the kdesktop (most distribution have one by default) and you can add icons to your desktop pointing to whatever you want them to point at.
Read the kde user guide for more information about how to configure kde.

same issue

I dont know what i did but im having the same issues. It starts off in kde and then my gnome desktop shows up. any idea of how to fix this?

Well, your issue is different: he wants to make kde look like gnome, you somehow managed to start the gnome desktop under kde

Start ksysguard, look for gnome-related processes (like nautilus, bonobon, gnome-* etc..) and kill them.
Then logout and back in.
If the gnome desktop comes back, repeat the procedure and cleanout ~/.kde/share/config/sessions and ~/.kde/share/config/ksmserverrc

Ive solved my problem

after trying just about every command there is relating to WM and displaymanagers. I realized nautilus was taking control, i downloaded a media player and i think i just entered through all the defaults.

either way - killall nautilus and then restart. its just that easy.
