Font antialiasing works better as root

Hello,

I've enabled font antialiasing in kcontrol. As a normal user, the fonts don't look very smooth, but if I start an application as root it looks gorgeous. I'm using the same settings for root and normal accounts.

Please take a look at the picture that I attatched. As you can see fonts look quite messy as a normal user.

This applies to all the fonts that I've tried (Arial, Bitstream, Sans, Calibri among others). I've tried all kinds of different settings, but currently I'm using Calibri 8, Full RBG sub-pixel hinting, and force 120 DPI. I've had this problem for a long time on Kubuntu Dapper, Edgy, and I'm currently on Sabayon with KDE 3.5.6 and X.org 7.2.

I would really appreciate some help with this. :) Thanks.
