Kmail to thunderbird

I want to import my backed kmail files in the CUR folder into Thunderbird. Can anyone help?

the easiest way:

Create a new folder in kmail, and use the mailformat 'mbox'.
copy all mails you want to export to the new folder

Then look in the mail directory of kmail for the mbox file (in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail or ~/Mail) and import it into Thunderbird.

Thanks for your response. The problem is...
I formatted my PC and now only have XP Windows. So can no longer access Kmail. And ofcourse cannot get Kmail for windows. I'm not keen to reinstall Suse just to install kmail and access emails.

Before formating the computer I backed up the maildir folder to a CD. So all emails are stored in the CUR folder.

Does anyone know of another mail client I can install in XP which works on the same basis as kmail. Or any other advise.

Thanks.

kmail uses the maildir format.

perhaps you can look for another mail client that supports importing that kind of format.

be aware that saving maildir folders to a cd of fat partition may corrupt the filenames in those folders, because kmail sometimes uses characters in filenames that aren't allowed on cd's or fat partitions.
