KnetworkManager help

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand something. I finally got my network card working on my XPS laptop.

My question is i'm using Knetworkmanager for managing my wireless network. I could see the wireless access points. If I connect to an unprotected network how do I disconnect from it if I notice its a slow connectiong.

Other thing, I read that most people when they connect they are usning wpa to sure the web or pick up email. Were can I find information on this when I connect to an open network... one that is not protected.

Sorry if I sound like a n00b... this whole wireless thing is new plus I just moved into KDE from Gnome.

Thanks.
