Kmail issues

Hi everyone,

it is probably not a good idea to start off my membership of this forum with whining about some problems kmail has been giving me, but these issues are really annoying and i think it's best to get it over with.
When using Kmail to check my imap account, it frequently produces copies of new mails. and not just one or two copies, sometimes over 30 (!) copies of the same mail... I have been unable to see some kind of pattern in this behaviour, aside from the fact that this appears to occur more often the longer kmail has been running in one single session, though this does not happen to all mail, and not to all mail with the same severity, no matter how long kmail has been running. Is this some kind of configuration error? I don't think it's the servers fault, since that same imap account worked fine when i was using it with Thunderbird.
Also, every time Kmail checks the imap account, it downloads all new mail (and sometimes the entire set of Mails, old and new, which can be quite extensive considering the amount of mailinglists i have subscribed to), and then uploads that entire heap of Mail back to the server. On occasion i had to wait over 2 hours to read a single small mail, because Kmail was busy uploading the mail from 3 months earlier. What's Kmails problem here? Another configuration error?
I really would like to keep using Kmail, due to the good integration with the rest of the kontact suite and some other neat faetures, but in its current state, it is really not very usable.
Any help you guys could give me would be appreciated. :)

RE: Kmail issues

I believe many problems you mentioned are already reported at bugs.kde.org . So the problems are known, now we need the manpower to actually fix it.

Configuration check

Bderenor,

Have you verified you are instructing kmail to delete the messages from the server?
In KonfigureKmail->accounts->modify there is a check box "Leave fetched messages on the server", be sure this is NOT checked.
