Change of file date when copying to windows network

I am a newbee in the Linux & KDE world, but I am very(!) happy with my new operating system. Nearly everything works.

But I have a big problem: When I copy files from Linux (Suse 10.2, Kubuntu 6.10) to my windows network (mounted via smb) date and time of the files changes to the actual time and date.
This also happens, when I copy or move a file to a NAS (Linkstation).

This does not happen, when I move files via the network from windows to windows or from OSX (10.4.8) to windows.

Is it possible to preserve the last modified date of a file using linux/KDE when copying or moving it to a windows network?

Thanks for you support!

tried this, and when i copy something from windows to opensuse, the filedate is preserved, but when i copy something from opensuse, to windows, the filedate get's changed into today, like you described.

Dunno why this happens, if it is a shortcoming in samba or if the configuration of both kubuntu and opensuse is incorrect..
