Kppp & Two Users

I have two users, I can use KPPP with no problem, but when I go to another user and plug her into the KPPP with the same information from my KPPP, the dialer can't open the modem. Both users have the same groups, except the second user who is not a member of the root group. The second user can however use Kinternet just fine, just the KPPP fails to open the modem. I am stumped as to where to look. I am still new to Suse 10.1 at just over a year under my belt, so there are areas in advanced techniques that I haven't tackled or attempt because of fear. Please keep it simple and explain fully what I need to do and where to look to fix. Thanks, in advance, Clois

kppp needs read/write acces to the modem.
That can be done by alowing the dialout-group to read/write to the modem and make your users member of that group, or by giving the kppp executable the SUID-root bit (chmod +s /opt/kde3/bin/kppp)
