Has anyone seen this??

First, this may not be completely a KDE issue, but may extend further into X.org

Here goes,

I am running Ubuntu 6.10 but prefer KDE to GNOME. After a fresh load and a large number of updates, Konqueror will fire off with the basic frame, but then takes literally 10 seconds to fill in the "tree" frame, then will not fill in the "file" area. It will sit in that state permanently unless I take action.

When it is finally responsive, I use the "View" menu entry to select "Detailed View" to finally get a file list.

I did get one suggestion to delete the ".kde" directory in my home dir. That worked the first time, but the failure returned upon the next boot I think.

Every time I run apt-get and upgrade my packages, I am hoping something will cure it. So far, no dice.

Anyone have any ideas? Should I remove and then re-install KDE ??

Regards,
