No keyboard for root password in shell

When in a shell (either Konsole or Xterm), and I try to log is a root, my keyboard does nothing.

This only happens in the shell, and only when trying to switch to root in the shell.

If an application asks me for the root password, there is no problem.

I recently had another keyboard problem and probably changed a setting while trying to fix it.

Thanx for the assist, Alan

what do you mean by " my keyboard does nothing"?

do you have problems logging in as root, typing your root password or using the keyboard after a succesfull login as root?

if it it the password, keep in mind that for security reasons, Linux does not give any feedback when you type it.

I´m new to Linux and I guess I just didn´t notice that I was not getting ¨password¨ feedback before.

Non problem fixed.

i had the same when i started with linux (in those days, you did not even get feedback from the GUI login), so i guessed that could be the case here as wel ;)
