thunderbird plays no sound in kde3.5 /gentoo

thunderbird plays no sound in kde3.5 /gentoo

hi!

there wont be a sound for incoming mail, neither when i enter a soundfile, nor when i choose system-sound. systemsound seems to work only with kmail, but why cant tb play the wavefile i choose? in windows-tb this is no problem...
i also tried aoss thunderbird, with no effect.

I'm not familiar with TB, but maybe there's useful output on the shell when you run TB from there.

forgot to mention that: no, nothing. neither with nor without oss. i also expected an errormessage when i click on "play" or whatever this button to check the sound in tb is called in english... but there isn't..
the option "show message" for incoming mail doesn't work either...
