Kopete font sizes

I had this set up properly before, but now my chat window font in kopete is smaller than all other text, and it's set properly in settings. I have it set to an 8, but it looks like a 6. Someone told me to force 96dpi in kcontrol which i did, but it did not seem to fix it. The problem is also happenening with konqueror web.

Okay I've noticed that this only occurs when fonts drop below size 9. Why is this?
