Re: java, flash, wmv

Installation procedures are distro specific. What are you running?

To play a wmv you will need a KDE media player like KPlayer.

I think Google should give you enough information for each component you're trying to install.

Just search for "gentoo java", "gentoo flash", "gentoo mplayer", "gentoo kplayer". They are all supported, you just need to find out what to emerge. I'm not a Gentoo user, so can't tell you what exactly you need to do.

for wmv try:

Source code

1
emerge win32codecs

for flash download adobe-flash plugin ( search it by www.google.com/linux ) and copy it to your browser plugin patch (I don't know where is it for konqueror but for mozilla it's ~/.mozilla/plugins/ )
for java and more information about installing flash look here:

Gentoo 2006.1, KDE 3.5.5

Please read the documentation at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/ha…-x86.xml?part=2

This thread is getting off topic, Gentoo related questions should be asked at forums.gentoo.org.

Re: Java for Konqueror

In Konqueror there is an option to enable Java. Look for it in Settings - Configure Konqueror.
