Autostart as root, how?

Hi,

I use ks3switch to switch between my laptop and TV screens. It needs root permissions to work and I would like to set it up to autostart with root permissions. How would I do that? I'm new to KDE and Linux.

Chees for any help.

RE: Autostart as root, how?

You can use sudo for that. Make sure sudo is configured correctly and modify the *.desktop file in your Autostart folder to run it with sudo.

Hi Again,

I've been trying this (bear in mind I'm totally new to Linux). I've edited my sudoers file and if I type

sudo ks3switch

at the terminal it works fine, however when I edit the .desktop file in Autostart to read the same as the above nothing seems to happen either when I start KDE or double click the file. It works OK if I tick the "Run in Terminal box" in advanced options, but I don't really want to have a terminal open up just to get it going, as the whole point of it is to avoid having to go intop a tereminal in the 1st place. Any ideas?

Cheers

Maybe the info in KDE Bug 20914 helps you? http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20914
